Short hair styles for a 4 year old girl?

I just got an order form for school pictures on WEDNESDAY! Help me, please...

my daughter is 4 and she cut her hair about two months ago. We had to buzz it like a boy's cut to even it out. She still has longer hair in the back, kind of like a mullet.

She's got a cute, spunky, firecracker personality, and loves colors like green, yellow, and orange. She can pull off a funky do, but I just can't figure out how to do anything.

I've tried doing a messy spiky do with a super stiff gel that has fibers in it, and topping it off with hair spray, but in 3 hours it has gone flat. I tried putting velcro bows in, and they fall out. I even tried gluing the velcro bow in with a dab of the gel glue (which held for about 4 hours).

I'm not sure where to find hair accessories that might work for her, and haven't a clue about how to fix her uber short hair. I've looked at websites, but they all seem to be for adults.

I think it is a cute the way it is. Having said that, I remember my gran-daughter having short hair that was very similar and everyone thought she looked like a boy in her pictures.

Headbands seem to be in and I bet you could get something cute at the dollar store. With that hair cut it would look like it was planned.

I'm extremely inept to all aspects of hair styling and management. Ive tired to grow out my hair several times back in high school but it looked terrible.

Since then (im 19 with 20 coming soon) I have just went with the basic short on the sides with a little more on the top. I havent had a hair cut in about 3 months to let it grow out, but it doesn't look very appealing and its getting to the point where i cant style it very well at all.

My hair consistency is rather thick and wavy in some areas and not so wavy in other areas.

if you were in my shoes and wanted to keep growing out your hair for a shaggy look what you propose i say or do next time i visit a stylist?

My first question is do you use styling product? If your hair is thick and wavy, it is hard to get it to look good unless you use some kind of product to tame down the wave, and then the thickness is no help to that either. My next question is what kind of texture is your hair? Coarse, fine, normal? It also depends on this when you are growing out your hair. All of these can make a difference when growing your hair out!

Tell them up front that you want to grow your hair back out but you want it styled so you look decent in the mean time. Keep going back to that same stylist till it has grown out where you want it to be.

if your hair is getting to the point where it looks mess ythen go to a stylist yeh - if you want to be abel to style it then invest in waxy type gel products and some straighteners. get the stylest to trim the ends to help growth and thin out the rest if your tht desperate to use product.... best advice i can give im afraid! The trick with fine hair is to use just a little product. Too much just weighs it down. And use stuff just for fine hair.

Actually, most styling products tend to weigh down your hair and if you've got fine hair already, that can make it worse. Also, fine hair tends to be oily. I would make sure to wash my hair every day, and to use a light conditioner (rinse it well so you're not adding more weight) and to use a clarifying shampoo once a week, unless you color your hair - because that will strip the color. There are tons of products out there specifically formulated to add body and really any of them will work. The most important thing to do is not use tons of product. Use just enough to get the job done and no more.

i am unsure as to a styling product that will work for you, but amplifying and volumizing shampoos and conditioners help to thicken my hair. my hair is not very thin, but i like the idea of having thick lustrous hair. i imagine the same would work for you. it is also good to ask a hair stylist this question, they can give you several alternatives.

I've heard that baby shampoo is actually great for really fine hair, and it comes in a lot of different scents now. A good leave-in conditioner/detangler is the Loreal kids kind--I use it a lot (stole it from my sister :). Very lightweight, and lots of fresh, fun scents (pear is my fave). I love John Freida's styling product that is part of his brunette/blonde/red hair line. It comes in a little tube, and you only need to use a little bit. It doesn't weigh my hair down like some other products, but it keep my frizzies under control, and you can't even tell it's there. Don't use gel! I tried that, and that was a big mess.

I love Garnier - the volumizing shampoo. It has always worked really well for me and the styling products are good too. Another good tip the hair stylist told me about is to Blow Dry your hair in the opposite direction for lift at the root. Good Luck!!

How to do Emo/scene hair - answer.?

Soooo many people ask this - so heres my best explanation.

Hair should be:

You must have short(ish) top layers, but with a clear longer bottom layer.

A side fringe or front fringe.

Doesn't really matter about your length - the longer the scenier.

You will need!

A fine tooth comb

Hairspray

Mirror (obviously)

Straightener

Accessories

Normal brush

Steps.

1)start off by fully straightening your hair.

2)get your comb, tease your top layer. Spray hairspray on the roots of your hair after you've teased it.

3)Spray your top layer with hairspray and straighten the ends again (it will make a sizzling sound)

4)Grab your normal brush and lightly shape your hair.

5)Ruffle your hair with your hands (if you want)

6)Add any accessories

That is strictly for the top layer only, if you do it to the bottom layer you will look like a cotton ball.

I just bought this cool hair clip at Target. Its the first "really cute" one I have seen.

You can spray in some hair shine and put it up into a clip or even a messy bun.

It would be cute to twist in some of those little beads too.

I did see some down low pony tail at a formal dance..It was o.k. Remember you do want to be comfortable.

Many are straightening thier hair after blow drying and it is a nice polished look. I have a straighter that was used before but It doesnt straighten my hair properly. I hear the really good ones are 100 dollars are more. Can you reccomend a good straightenig iron for a reasonable price and how does one become good at straightening hair?

Do you have to always blow dry your hair out to straighten it or can you comb it out and then straighten when dry?

Also I got a hair cut and I have a round face the person who cut my hair cut it very short and when I let it dry it looks curly choppy and messy. The salon person blew it out and straightned it and it looked good. My question is what is a good way to grow out hair to a bob length or just above the shoulders because when hair grows from short to long it goes through that awful in between stage any suggestions?

Basically after your hair is dry you can straighten it.

I dry mine first just to make it a little faster.

I would either recommend a Hair Art or Chi.

Chi's tend to short out alot but they work really well.

I just ordered a HairArt from Amazon.com and it was $100.00 even and it works fantastic! It has these liquidized crystals within the ceramic plates called tourmaline, it makes your hair soooo shiny and sleek. It keeps your hair straight for longer too.

I would just suggest trimming it every now and then when you are growing it so it doesnt look too awful. Straighten is during that time period so it will look good and polished.

Try long layers to frame your face. You wouldn't loose any length but you'd get some more volume. Another option would be to leave the back the same, but have the front cut a little shorter, angling up. When you blow dry with a round brush it will angle up and frame your face a lot like layers would without loosing so much length. Angle it up to about your lips (so the shortest hairs in the front would be lip length, and then it would be cut diagonally down to your shoulders where the rest would be). Does that make sense? Another easy way to change your hairstyle is to change your part. It doesn't involve any cutting, just a little time for your hair to get used to laying that way. Use hairspray to help.

Okay, your color is not undefined, it's sandy blonde or light brown (however you want to look at it). Also, why on Earth would you ever want thin hair?!!! When you're older and (heaven forbid) you start going bald, you'll wish you had thick hair like you did then you were a teen. Until then you could grow it to shoulder length and then get your stylist to layer it. Maybe with thin, shaggy bangs? It will feel thinner and lighter.

Then I follow up with the Leave in conditioner finish off with the sleek and shine anti humidity hairspray. Also do not wash your hair every day. Every other day or every third day is plenty. Your hair will not dry out and frizz as bad.

My hair stylist suggested this product for my hair which is also wavy/curly and definitely frizzy. It has worked very well for me and doesn't leave your hair hard or crispy. I found that it works best if you put it on wet or damp hair (do not touch afterwards!) and let it dry. She's got a cute, spunky, firecracker personality, and loves colors like green, yellow, and orange. She can pull off a funky do, but I just can't figure out how to do anything.

I've tried doing a messy spiky do with a super stiff gel that has fibers in it, and topping it off with hair spray, but in 3 hours it has gone flat. I tried putting velcro bows in, and they fall out. I even tried gluing the velcro bow in with a dab of the gel glue (which held for about 4 hours).

I'm not sure where to find hair accessories that might work for her, and haven't a clue about how to fix her uber short hair. I've looked at websites, but they all seem to be for adults.

Try long layers to frame your face. You wouldn't loose any length but you'd get some more volume. Another option would be to leave the back the same, but have the front cut a little shorter, angling up. When you blow dry with a round brush it will angle up and frame your face a lot like layers would without loosing so much length. Angle it up to about your lips (so the shortest hairs in the front would be lip length, and then it would be cut diagonally down to your shoulders where the rest would be). Does that make sense? Another easy way to change your hairstyle is to change your part. It doesn't involve any cutting, just a little time for your hair to get used to laying that way. Use hairspray to help.

Hair should be:

You must have short(ish) top layers, but with a clear longer bottom layer.

A side fringe or front fringe.

Doesn't really matter about your length - the longer the scenier.

You will need!

A fine tooth comb

Hairspray

Mirror (obviously)

Straightener

Accessories

Normal brush

Steps.

1)start off by fully straightening your hair.

2)get your comb, tease your top layer. Spray hairspray on the roots of your hair after you've teased it.

3)Spray your top layer with hairspray and straighten the ends again (it will make a sizzling sound)

4)Grab your normal brush and lightly shape your hair.

5)Ruffle your hair with your hands (if you want)

6)Add any accessories

That is strictly for the top layer only, if you do it to the bottom layer you will look like a cotton ball.

How long is your hair? Maybe try a perm, only if your hair is in good condition, and a hair professional can tell that right away. That will give you more options. Mouse and a little teasing after it is dry will give it volume. Finish it with spritz or your favorite finishing spray and Ta-Da...good to go!

omg, I have the same hair as u! ahahah. I find the best thing to do is go get a scene hair cut- yes I know that sounds very lame- but just don't spike it all up and ****. With all the different layers, you can braid your hair, put it in a pony tail or a messy bun, and it always comes out looking pretty good. =] hope that helps.

what i like to do when im in a hurry is tie most of my hair in a loose pony tail so that i get my long hair out of the way --and then blow dry with a round brush my short layers on top--once im done i let loose my pony tail and let it dry naturally while i get ready so that it has more shape and lots of volume--it looks like spent hours when i spent minutes:)

I used to dye my hair but i got it dyed back to my natural color in january and haven't had a drop of dye in it since. my hair used to be very shiny and healthy looking. Now it just looks like hay.

i currently use Tresemme shampoo %26amp; conditioner. the cheap stuff does not work for me because my hair is so thick that i can't ever get a comb through it afterwards.

i've tried oil treatments, Aussie 5 Minute Deep conditioning and Panteen Deep conditioning. They didn't seem to do much for my hair. And i do NOT use hair styling products (ex. hairspray, gel)

Dont bleach it. Go for a chocolate brown with a few streaks of golden blond. And yes, your hair probably will break off if you bleach it again. If you want a good shampoo that maintains color and shininess in hair, try "Color Me Sexy" or "Garnier Fructis". They are awesome on colored hair.

Considering you have layered hair.. if you have bangs, you can easily make the most of them! (:

For example, putting your hair in a medium height ponytail and having straightened bangs pulled to the side is very chic. Or you can put them in a 'bump' with a ponytail; or you could do a half ponytail which looks cute; or a side low ponytail with bangs on the other side - so your wavy hair shows.

There are lots of styles you can choose; be creative about it and vary it lots so whatever you do, no one will get bored of it - not even you! Hope this helps x

I have the exactly same kind of hair, just not layered and it's dirty blonde(A few inches above my waist). If it's already wavy, why change it? It's an excellent advantage. Many girls would like to have hair like yours. Let it be the way it is. If u really need a hairstyle, u can flat iron it but that damages your hair a looot. Or u can scrunch it. I do that often. Especially during the summer to save myself from the heat. But anyway, the most important thing is that u treat your hair right. xoxo

Well if you are not good with a curling iron there are other options. You can scrunch it with gel- you take your dampish wettish hair and put gel in your palm. Rub it in your palms and take fistfuls of your hair and squeeze them. After that, dry it with the diffuser attachment on the blow dryer about 3" away.

You've got to take a few bits of your hair and curl them individually, wrap one around the iron and hold for a few seconds then release and do the same with the rest. Also put your head down and aim the air at the back of your head then raise it up. You can use any product for volume or serum to protect your hair from the heat on wet hair. If you have str8 hair that wouldn't last, apply hair spray at the end when the waves or curls are big enough for you. Don't go with gel cuz it kills your hair and you would want natural looking healthy curlz and gel won't allow you to have that

Hair should be:

You must have short(ish) top layers, but with a clear longer bottom layer.

A side fringe or front fringe.

Doesn't really matter about your length - the longer the scenier.

You will need!

A fine tooth comb

Hairspray

Mirror (obviously)

Straightener

Accessories

Normal brush

Steps.

1)start off by fully straightening your hair.

2)get your comb, tease your top layer. Spray hairspray on the roots of your hair after you've teased it.

3)Spray your top layer with hairspray and straighten the ends again (it will make a sizzling sound)

4)Grab your normal brush and lightly shape your hair.

5)Ruffle your hair with your hands (if you want)

6)Add any accessories

That is strictly for the top layer only, if you do it to the bottom layer you will look like a cotton ball.

I'm growing out my stacked bob so I'm working with the same as you. I've got pin straight hair and so if I want waves, I use lots of mousse and a diffuser with my blowdryer. If I want it curlier, I use hot rollers %26amp; relax the curl with pomade %26amp; shine booster. This looks best the day after. I use a flat-iron when I want it smooth. What I learned is that you need to experiment with your hair %26amp; hair products when you have some free time. Also, think of someone's hairstyle that you like %26amp; try to recreate it on yourself.

For the color, highlight it then put in a semi permantent, get those special shampoos by John Freida and get the blonde one and wash your hair with that then use a permanent light blonde color. For when your roots show, use a root touch up kit. Also usually eyebrows are arched.

Perhaps you can do different designs with your facial hair? If you shave your head bald, there's not much I can suggest for your head. Try a goatee, moustache, a beard... different combos and such.
